Have
you driven down a highway and seen one or more
white crosses at the side of the highway indicating there has been an accident
where people have been killed. As I travel north on Route 3 there is one white
cross which has the name "Andy Cogdel"on
the horizontal and "God Bless" on the vertical part of the cross.
Andy was killed several years back while doing some roadwork on Route 3. The
only other thing I can remember about this accident is that his wife did make
the statement that "Whoever was driving the vehicle that hit and killed
Andy had better not have been texting while driving." I can only imagine
that as Andy left for work that fateful day he was looking forward to the time
when he could be with his family doing the things they had planned for that
evening. I see this cross at least fifty-two times a year. Each time I see it I
am reminded that I am just sojourning on this earth and that things eternal are
not here. The real and important cross in our lives is the cross of Jesus who
died for the sins of mankind, was resurrected and ascended into heaven. What a
great and merciful God and Savior we have!
