Process!

Last week I wrote a little bit about efficiency. If you remember, I crammed all the scriptures from the front cover into one solid block of black ink. I pointed out that I could very efficiently cover the front with a LOT of scriptures if I did it this way, but it was pretty unusable. This week I want to talk again a bit about process.

We had some chicken's processed - that means in this case someone else cut off their heads, plucked their feathers, and pulled their insides out. I put some unsuspecting, happy, good sized white birds into a dog crate and dropped it off in the dead of night at some farm. Seriously. But today, I went by and got some nice chickens wrapped in sterile plastic bags, ready for the freezer or the stew pot. All the grisly process was taken care of for me by someone else and I got to benefit from it.

Now obviously you might think well Christ was crucified for me. I didn't actually kill him or do the grisly part, but I got the benefit from that. Yeah yeah we get it Randy. Oh? If you think that you don't get it at all. Because when we sin after being forgiven, we might as well be doing the grisly part. The scripture says we crucify him afresh. That is how horrible sin is, do we consider it that way?

Maybe this will help in my discussion of process. When I was attending Kent State University I worked part time as a janitor to help pay for my classes. After a year I was given additional responsibility, to train new hires. I showed them very carefully the process - we had specific cleaners for sinks, specific cleaners for toilets, etc. Just a whole inventory of products. They watched me, listened to everything I said - and then a couple weeks later there was a flu epidemic at the campus. It was traced to those who spent a good amount of time at the Student Center (where I was a janitor). It turns out, the folks I trained listened to me describe the process and after mopping the floor went right ahead and stuck that same mop in the toilets to clean them - and then in the sinks! Yes, eventually the folks who did this got fired, but not me.
