One day, I was at this breakfast/sandwich shop
One day, I was at this breakfast/sandwich shop and I saw a young man that I recognized from seeing around the area for the past 10 years or so. His father owns a construction company in which this young man worked. I would see him working on the crews but now I see him running the crews and over the years, I watched their company grow. They now have more employees, new equipment and have expanded in the area really doing well for themselves.

I had gone into the shop to order a breakfast sandwich which obviously is what this young man had already done. He had been waiting sometime because he was there before I came in. The store was busy and it was taking longer than this man expected to get his food. When he finally was given his order he was abrupt and stormed out obviously upset. I went out to my car where Tracy was waiting and began to eat my sandwich. While talking to my wife, and eating, I was watching this young man. He was sitting in his brand new Hummer, arms flailing about obviously complaining about the wait he had to endure. He was munching down his sandwich like lightning. I thought to myself .... Wow, he couldn't have enjoyed that sandwich and this place has really good food. He didn't take any time to really appreciate what a good thing he had. Have you ever gone out to eat with your spouse and ordered something that is so good that you want them to share in the taste? So good you say.... "Wow, you gotta try this!

Well, this young man didn't offer a bite to his wife. He just gobbled it down and I don't see how he could have even tasted it. It was all gone. I thought to myself, "Is this how we might treat our Christianity?" Here we have this "sandwich" known as Christianity and instead of really enjoying and appreciating it, are we behaving like this man, complaining and not appreciating the gift we have before us? Are we taking the time to understand what we have to revel in and enjoy the gift that is our Christianity? And above all, unlike this man who didn't even offer his wife a bite of this good thing, are we sharing our Christianity with others?

We need to appreciate this gift, to revel in it, to joyously appreciate each moment because like that sandwich the next thing we know it will be gone. For us it could be death or the coming of Christ. Will we look back and say..."I didn't even take the time to appreciate what I had or to share it with others"?
