The lesson today is meant to remind us
The lesson today is meant to remind us that God has authority over all and Christians should live in his image. Those who don't follow God will have consequences for the sins they are committing.

In John 3:14-21 there are examples of this some of which I am going to discuss.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; that whosoever believeth may in him have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him. He that believeth on him is not judged: he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his works should be reproved. But he that doeth the truth cometh to the light, that his works may be made manifest, that they have been wrought in God.

If you are following God's word he will take care of you. He will take your hand and on judgment day you will go to heaven. Only your physical body dies when you are a Christian and obeying the Bible and God's word. When we are baptized we are taking on the responsibility to be loyal and showing we are willing to do Gods will in any circumstances needed. We become servants of God. We should do everything that's been asked of us in the Bible. We should not hesitate for if we do he shall take it as that we do not have faith in him to take care of us.

When I see a child in a grocery store with their mother, the mother most likely said "We are going into a grocery store now, so listen to me and behave or there will be consequences." In a similar way, we read the bible and God tells us that if we do not obey him and listen to his word then we will have consequences as well. In both cases, it's consequences that we don't want.

Obedience goes with authority in this way. God has authority over all. If we choose not to obey him then we will have consequences, such as not being able to go to heaven. So it is just as important that we realize that God has authority as well as that we MUST be obedient to him. Some people act like children. Children may realize that their parents have authority but that does not mean that they will be obedient. God has said that in order to be righteous we have to realize that God has all authority over us and we also need to obey him.

In order to realize that God has authority all we have to do is read and learn about him. If we have an honest heart we will be obedient to him and get baptized. That is the best thing that I have ever done. Before I was baptized I had a huge burden on my shoulders but it was like once I was baptized it all went away. I feel cleansed and I feel better and I feel like a new person. it's a wonderful feeling.
