I have some good news for you
I have some good news for you, and it just won't wait!

At least that's what Billy told us a couple Wednesdays ago. Many of you may not know that, because attendance is skimpy at the mid week bible study, but it was part of his invitation. On the white board, he wrote:

Good News Rom 6:3 ~

And discussed it at some length. What was humorous (and worthy of note) was that it stayed up there all through Kurt's lesson Sunday morning. I could not help but see it and think of what Billy had to say from four days prior. Of course it also fit in with Kurt's lesson, because he spoke of the good news, but he never turned around and pointed at the message on the board. That's too bad as it would have tied in nicely. It's even possible some assumed that Kurt had written it, the message fitting in so well.

What was especially interesting to keep in mind, at least to me after having thought back about what Billy said, was that even though the message did eventually get erased by someone before Sunday night's lesson (I didn't catch who did wiped the board) the message is still just as true as it was before it got removed. There's good news out there, and you can find mention of it in Romans b:3. It's not going away, even if every bible was banned and burned. This makes me think of many truths that were once predominately posted in schools and government buildings (and even on our currency) that either quote God or give reverence to his name. In God We Trust. By the Grace Of God. The Golden Rule. God our Great Lawgiver. Even if you "wipe away" all these things from public view, you simply cannot wipe away God or his truth. Or, in this case, the good news!

But (as Billy pointed out without realizing he was going to be a prophet about what he had written and how one silly listener would use it for a bulletin) we CAN wipe God out of our hearts by rejecting him through disbelief. In short, the good news is something that once we have no person, government, or power under heaven including Satan himself can wrangle away from us. No, we have to be dumb enough to do it to ourselves! ! ! And while there is good news in the bible, this shows there is bad news, too. We don't often think of it that way, but it's just as true. Ignoring it, or ignoring God, just makes it all the more likely to come upon us.

There are lots of "stale" reminders in the bulletin that I would like to "refresh." If you can give me updates on anything in the prayer list please do so. And of course if there's anything missing that would be nice to know about, too.
